On Saturday 15th July 2023, students from the University Campus of Esports will be aiding the Esports and Gaming Agency, Promod to produce the Accelerate Championship Rome Major.
This event is part of the FormulaE circuit, and production for the stream will be taking place from the University Campus of Esports campus – Lee Valley VeloPark. Drivers will be competing live remotely throughout the competition and will go through qualifiers to earn their spot in the later races.
Students will be shadowing the Promod industry professionals to help produce and run the visual elements of the live broadcast, whilst also working with on-screen talent throughout the event. The stream will be live on the FIAFormulaE Twitch and YouTube channels from 11:00am BST on the 15th July.
The current schedule for the event is as follows:
11:00am BST – Stream Begins
11:15am BST – Qualifiers Start
11:30am BST – Duels Begin
12:00pm BST – Final Races Start
The university’s broadcast studio, which was created in collaboration with Storm Broadcast, was utilised earlier in the year by Promod to host the Berlin Major of this series. University Campus of Esports students were invited to work this event in April and received their first introduction to the running of large-scale live productions.
This event provides invaluable skills for students studying at the university, as they can gain direct industry experience in various sectors. Experiences like these are vital in supporting the university in its journey to teach through a TRI-Curriculum – a system that promotes the development of students becoming ‘World-Ready.’
