Four students from the University Campus of Esports, the world’s leading university-level institution dedicated to the business of esports and gaming, have had the opportunity of a lifetime to explore South Korea alongside tier-one esports organisation Gen.G.
Second-year university-degree students, Finnlo Merry, Louis Skilton, Johrson Selvaratnam, and Jack Baxter were chosen to go on this trip due to their academic success, dedication to the TRI-Curriculum alongside their studies, and their contribution to the wider study body.
Professor Philip Wilson, Executive Chair & Founder, said: “To provide students with this fully-funded trip of a lifetime is an example of the opportunities we provide our students regardless of background.”
This trip, provided by the University Campus of Esports, allows the students to dive into all aspects of Korean culture to support their studies in International Esports Business; including exploring historical sites wearing traditional hanbok, and attending various esports events.
Most notably, Gen.G provided tickets to see their VALORANT team compete live in the VCT Pacific split – giving our students first-hand experience of Korean esports events to develop their understanding of events management.
On top of the cultural immersion, the students have had the chance to go on a tour of Gen.G and Gen.G Academy headquarters, before getting stuck into a series of projects as part of a work experience programme.
Each student has the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals within Gen.G to enhance their skills and portfolio as they move into their final year of study with us at the University Campus of Esports.
Trips like this are a testament to the University Campus of Esports’ ethos to ensure students are world-ready when they graduate – with a plethora of industry experience behind them as they move into their chosen career.
