From the 24th – 26th January 2024, the UK’s biggest EdTech conference, Bett Show, returned to London, with staff and students from the University Campus of Esports able to work alongside industry professionals at the event.
As the exclusive university partner of the British Esports Federation, a select number of staff and students from the University Campus of Esports were invited to speak in the Esports Theatre, and gain work experience across a range of stands at the event.
Nathan David, Head of Foundation, Lewis Douglas, Games Design and Digital Marketing Course Leader, and Neven Miller, Student Council President, took to the stage during the event to discuss the likes of safeguarding and international opportunities within esports.

Lewis, having spoken about the vast range of international opportunities available for students in the industry, said: “I had a wonderful chance to speak at Bett this year on the British Esports stage about the state of global esports, what that looks like, and how education needs to evolve to help facilitate the growing needs in this market. It was a fantastic opportunity and a great experience to speak to industry leaders about their lived experience from various continents on the planet.”
Moreover, some of our student ambassadors also attended the event to expand their knowledge, as well as gain experience working at an event of this scale.
During the event, the students got to trial out some professional Sim Racing rigs, cast Rocket League live on the main stage, and act as tournament admins for live matches.
Yousuf Ahmed, a Student Ambassador from the University Campus of Esports, said: “I loved helping out at the event and got to meet many amazing people from all over the Esports industry, was very insightful, I learnt a lot, and had a lot of fun.”
All of these opportunities were made available to students and staff by British Esports, to support the ongoing development of esports and gaming students.
These opportunities align with the aims of the TRI-Curriculum – a unique academic approach at the University Campus of Esports that strives to ensure students are fully equipped for any role within the industry when they graduate.
