University Campus of Esports Rebrand
London, UK
The College of Esports today formally announces its evolution to the University Campus of Esports, marking a significant milestone in its journey as the leading higher education institution dedicated to the global esports and games industries.
Founded with a bold vision to create a world-leading university focused on the business, culture and future of esports and gaming, and with a clear emphasis on transferable skills across modern sectors, the University Campus of Esports has rapidly established itself as a distinctive presence within UK higher education.
Through collaborations with industry partners including Atlassian Williams, Adobe and other leading digital organisations, the University Campus of Esports integrates cutting-edge technology, AI-enabled workflows and real-world digital business practice directly into the student experience.
A Milestone in UK Higher Education
The transition in name reflects more than a rebrand. It represents academic maturity, sector validation, and a clear statement of long-term ambition within the regulated UK higher education landscape. The University Campus of Esports operates as a specialist campus delivering validated higher education provision at Foundation, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels from its iconic base at the VeloPark in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London.

Since welcoming its first cohort of students in 2022, the institution has grown year on year, culminating in the graduation of its first cohort in 2025. These graduates now move into careers across esports, gaming, sport, media and wider digital industries, carrying with them not only their degree certificate but a distinctive set of professional and personal competencies shaped by the institution’s unique model.
The TRI-Curriculum Approach
At the heart of the University Campus of Esports is its TRI-Curriculum approach, a three-year journey of personal and professional development. While traditional universities deliver a single academic curriculum, the University Campus of Esports integrates three interconnected pillars: Academic Excellence, Coaching and Mentoring, and World Ready development.

The Academic pillar ensures rigorous, industry-informed teaching across areas such as international esports business, AI-enabled content production, digital marketing strategy, media production, intellectual property law, technology management and talent development.
The Coaching and Mentoring pillar focuses on leadership development, employability, resilience and the cultivation of students’ individual professional identity.
The World Ready pillar provides structured opportunities for entrepreneurship, volunteering, community engagement and global experiential learning, ensuring that graduates are prepared not only for their first job, but for long-term career adaptability.
Together, these three pillars form a holistic student experience designed to align with the skills most in demand in the global labour market. In line with the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs insights, the University Campus of Esports actively develops analytical thinking, complex problem solving, leadership, creativity, advanced AI literacy, digital business strategy and technological fluency across all programmes.
Experiential Learning at the Heart of the Institution
Students do not simply study esports and gaming; they actively participate in the ecosystem.
From running live broadcasts in a professional, broadcast-standard studio environment to supporting industry activations with partners such as Atlassian Williams, Royal Navy Esports, UKIE and Digital School House, students gain hands-on experience embedded within their degree journey.

Situated within the Lee Valley VeloPark Velodrome in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the campus places students at the centre of one of the UK’s most iconic sporting and innovation districts. Students regularly engage with live events at West Ham’s London Stadium, the Copper Box Arena and major esports competitions across the UK.
Beyond London, students have travelled nationally and internationally through structured, non-credit experiential modules, supporting major global events including DreamHack in Birmingham, university-level esports competitions in Texas, and industry visits in Egypt, South Korea and Riyadh during the Esports World Cup. These opportunities are carefully integrated to ensure academic relevance, professional development and cultural awareness.
Leadership Statement
Professor Philip Wilson, Founder and Chair of the University Campus of Esports, said:
“When we first established this institution, we set out to create something genuinely new within higher education, a contemporary institution for a contemporary world. The move to the University Campus of Esports reflects the progress we have made, the academic credibility we have built, and the confidence we have in our future. Our graduates are proof that specialist, industry-focused higher education can be rigorous, innovative and world-leading.”
As the esports and gaming industries continue to expand globally, the University Campus of Esports remains committed to contributing to the UK’s educational and economic landscape by developing graduates who are adaptable, ethical, technologically fluent and globally aware.
The new name signals ambition, stability and validation within the UK higher education framework. It reflects not only where the institution has come from, but where it is going: toward continued growth, strengthened partnerships, deeper research integration and long-term evolution within the sector.
For prospective students, partners and stakeholders, the message is clear. The University Campus of Esports is building the future of esports and games education, preparing graduates who are ready for the world.
