London Legion, the University Campus of Esports’ own esports organisation, is pleased to announce that Swēorice will be making their competitive debut in the Insomnia 72 League of Legends iSeries competition on Friday 29th March 2024.

Commonly referred to as League, League of Legends is one of the most popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video games internationally; the 2009 release is developed and published by Riot Games, the powerhouse behind key esports titles like VALORANT, with the game receiving constant updates, new playable characters, and offering seasonal battle passes.

The game makes two teams of five tackle a series of towers, inhibitors, and the final nexus, as well as waves of minions and the monsters of the jungle – all while taking on each other. The game offers five roles, split into lanes, with over 160 champions for the players to chose from.

Alessio Bandrabur-Bohm, Michael ‘Brechtamus’ Brecht, Finnlo Merry, Nathan ‘Snaggle’ Luccarini, and Louis ‘Ski1ton’ Skilton from London Legion’s “Swēorice” are in a league of their own.

The top lane is a wild rift, forcing close quarter 1v1 fights – Michael ‘Brechtamus‘ Brecht takes the brunt of the damage, holding the top lane and tanking through team fights; the lane offers an intense and chaotic experience that Brechtamus thrives in.

Leading the cohort in the early stages of the game, Nathan ‘Snaggle‘ conquers the jungle – communicating with the team and seeking out high priority neutral monsters that grant buffs for the team’s players. When trouble comes calling, Snaggle is always close behind, offering quick movement to draw out summoner spells in the hopes to deplete the opponent’s mana.

Controlling the rift, Louis ‘Ski1ton‘ holds the mid lane. He moves fast and thinks faster, this jack-of-all-trades provides a solution to any and every problem the team faces in the rift. He creates rhythm and holds beat as he strives for perfection.

Destined to be the highest damage output, Alessio takes the bottom lane. He’s the last into the fight, and the last out – either driving the enemy away or taking down everyone who stands in his team’s way.

Captain of the roster, Finnlo, is the playmaker, and holds the flow for the five-man band while keeping them alive. Finnlo finds angles and makes plays that others might not even think possible.

For Swēorice, the journey starts in the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, to take on Insomnia 72’s League of Legends iSeries Lan beginning 12pm GMT on the 29th March.
