[LONDON 2024] University Campus of Esports, the world’s leading university-level institution dedicated to the business of esports and gaming, in partnership with Tranmere Rovers Football Club, are pleased to announce the launch of the “Path to Pro” esports competition, with the winner receiving a professional esports contract under the Tranmere Rovers brand.
The free-to-enter competition will see EAFC24 players go against each other in a series of online tournaments, with the winners progressing to a grand final event, to be held in person at Prenton Park – home of the Tranmere Rovers.
The qualifying tournaments will be held online on the 1st and 8th June, with an online semi-final on 15th June. The grand finals will be held on the 22nd June at Prenton Park.
Eight finalists from the online qualifiers will compete in a series of EAFC24 challenges at the LAN event – including playing against up-and-coming Liverpool FC star, Jayden Danns – with the overall winner of this tournament receiving a professional contract to compete for Tranmere Rovers Esports.
In addition to playing EAFC24 professionally for the Club, the winner will also attend Tranmere’s home matches for matchday fan engagement activities, and work with the Club’s Esports BTEC students.
Professor Philip Wilson, Executive Chair & Founder of the University Campus of Esports, said: “We are incredibly excited about this amazing opportunity with Nicola Palios, Vice Chairman of the Tranmere Rovers, and the wider team at Tranmere Rovers Football Club, to collaborate on a pivotal project of this scale. Our students are getting the opportunity to gain first-hand work experience in the likes of broadcasting and tournament management – of which will be invaluable experience for them as they continue their journey of personal and professional development with us. This event is set to be a great success, and I am overjoyed with the work our students have been able to complete behind the scenes thus far.”
The closing date for applications for the first qualifying tournament is Thursday 30th May, and the closing date for the second tournament is Thursday 6th June. In the event of there being more applicants than places available, the highest-ranking players will be selected to participate. Players must be aged 18 or above by 1st September 2024 to participate.
Further details on how to sign up, and the full tournament ruleset, can be found on the Tranmere Rovers website.
